Visiting the Wheelchair Dancers Organization was truly an inspiration. Class progressed from Warm-up, MJ Thriller Choreo, then Cha Cha Cha partnering. Just like any dance class, there was emphasis on technique and form and a sense of discipline, while having fun, feeling the music, and letting go. 50% Rollers, 50% Walkers. I learned how to lead a roller into the Cha Cha Cha Basic, Natural Top, New Yorker, and Spot Turn. It was a blast, and really felt like Leading a dance! I had lived in a wheelchair once, having been paralyzed from the neck down with a rare disease called Spinal Cord Infarction. My memories and emotions of immobility came back as I took part in the class, having this opportunity to teach and share my passion for dancing with Wheelchair Dance classes in Orange County and Los Angeles in the near future, will be part of my continuous journey of recovery and healing, and I can't wait! It is a blessing to be sharing the power of dance! Congrats to Joe and Beverly for creating such an amazing organization and community!
