Had an amazing opportunity performing with our wonderful little wheelchair dancer Mary Andrews as guest characters in the wonderful children's showThe Beautiful World, teaching kids concepts such as honor, respect, kindness, love, and saving the environment. Directed by Erik Williams, quadriplegic who I met shopping at Whole Foods September 2014 and participated in our wheelchair dance workshop in March 2015, Erik started creating and sending fun puppet videos to his kids in Utah after his injury in 1997 while in rehab at the Los Amigos Rehab Center. It was his new way of playing with his kids and continually being a good father. He took the concept one step further and created the live theater production The Beautiful World, and recently signed with a children's TV network for the show to hit the media. Erik was moved by Infinite Flow's mission and activities and asked me a few months ago if he can incorporate the wheelchair dancing into his show. I said yes in a heart beat. For this first show, as part of Valley Cultural Center's summer children series, Empathy was the theme, and I briefly shared my story from paralysis to professional dancer and how now I am am giving back my love of dance to those who cannot walk through becoming a wheelchair dance instructor. The hundred or so kids in the audience responded with love and understanding, and then Mary and I performed a short dance to "Let It Go" choreographed by Brian. Mary didn't get nervous at all, in fact, she had so much fun, and asked me when we were going to do this again. Congrats Mary on your first stage appearance, many more to come, and so happy that you had a great time. Thank you Erik for including us in your show. God Bless!
